Esneyder Cortes holds a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering. He has 28 years’ work experience in communities affected by conflicts resulting from the presence of illicit crops and armed personnel. He lived and worked for more than 8 years in Columbia’s Putamayo Department, developing projects focussing on alternative development and the substitution of illicit crops, while at the same time committing himself to other projects dealing with the reintegration of former members of demobilised armed groups, actively implementing reconciliation processes on the road towards achieving peace in Columbia. He currently works for the Ayuda en Acción Foundation in Columbia, where he continues to promote rural development in vulnerable communities.
