Morningstar Akinrinlola

My name is Morningstar Akinrinlola, and I am a Senior Project Engineer at PLW Waterworks. I work mainly on equipment and the mechanical components of water projects, utilizing my expertise and knowledge to contribute to delivering a successful project. I started of as a Field Engineer straight out of college without knowing a thing about the construction industry. I worked in Midland, TX, and 6 months in was selected to move to San Antonio, TX to build a team for the high-profile project for the San Antonio Water System project SAWS Agua Vista. This project broadened my understanding exponentially of how I could drive impact in the team by ensuring the equipment is procured and manufactured in accordance with the spec and on time. One of my greatest accomplishments is mitigating last minute cost hikes by ensuring the equipment is correctly scoped and purchased earlier in the project by strategic process plans and developing relationship with the suppliers. I currently in the phase of closing out the Walnut Creek Project in Austin, TX and am now transitioning to the Pflugerville Expansion Project in Pflugerville TX. As I grow in my career, I am passionate about developing young minds and showing that a woman can have a career in construction, grow and drive initiatives that make for great impact. I do this by being involved in the internship program and the recruitment of young talent via career fairs I was raised in Nigeria and moved to USA for college after which I stayed back and started my career. As a dual citizen of United States and Nigeria, I have a deep appreciation of cultures whether that be through food, music, and art. Because of that I love travelling and exploring the world around me. When I am not at work, I will be trying out a new restaurant, in an art environment or reading a good book.
