Steve Armitage

30 years of airline industry expertise gained at British Airways (BA) and Heathrow Airport – operating in both IT and core business departments. Key achievements at BA included creating their customer database, establishing the basic technologies for OneWorld, moving BA.com into the mainstream and creating new online capabilities. I then applied the web learning to employee self-service before finally being part of the BA Terminal 5 team. Since joining Heathrow I have been involved in the first steps of passenger automation, improvements in security processing and portfolio managing the IT elements of the strategic airport resilience programme. Currently working in Heathrow’s new IT Futures team whose purpose is to identify technologies for future business exploitation to deliver outcomes quicker and cheaper. My main focus is on the operational aspects and baggage.
