The most impressive images of the North Tarrant Express Toll Road in Dallas

Did you know that the North Tarrant Express constructed by Ferrovial Agroman and managed by Cintra is one of America’s most innovative and complex road building projects? This state of the art project was completed back in October 2014, a whole 9 months ahead of schedule.

To give you the breakdown on the road-the NTE is a 13.5 mile highway in the  Dallas-Fort Worth area in North Texas. The highway improves mobility along a series of highways which are vital to the region, including the IH-820 and the SH 121/183.

Not only is the project a complex one from a design and construction point of view, it has also had a fundamental role in revitalizing the local economy. The project created around 2,000 jobs in North Texas and also involved a number of the area’s small businesses as well as contactors, suppliers and vendors.

How has the NTE highway made life easier for commuters?

Did you know that the Dallas Fort-Worth area is home to 25% of the most congested freeways in Texas? The North Tarrant Express corridor is renowned as one of the most congested in the United States. The new NTE design has drastically reduced congestion allowing better movement of people and goods around the region, making for happier commuters and having an all-round positive impact on the local economy.

The concept of Managed Lanes

The addition of managed lanes has significantly increased the capacity along the corridor (in Texas the managed lanes are called “TEXpress lanes”). Drivers can now choose between free lanes and managed lanes which carry a toll that varies according to the current traffic conditions on the corridor.
